NEET Exam - Why was it started?
NTA NEET complete exam is mainly conducted to fill the medical and dental college slots which are one of the best medical colleges in India.
The main goal of NEET exam is to ease the admission process for MBBS and BDS courses. Therefore, full fledged NEET examination including AIPMT (All India Pre-Medical Examination, a national proficiency and entrance test approved by CBSE and Medical Council of India (MCI)) has been introduced across the country. It was introduced to replace the health check-up. In the past, medical students in India had to fill separate forms for entrance examinations for different medical schools.
NEET Exam History:
NTA NEET - Complete National Eligibility Test. It was first proposed to conduct a trial from 2012. However, due to various reasons, it was delayed by one year by CBSE and Medical Council of India. The first nationwide NEET was conducted on 5 May 2013 for candidates seeking admission to undergraduate and graduate medical programmes. On 18 July 2013, the Supreme Court allowed 115 petitions and struck down the NEET exam, stating that the MCI cannot interfere in the college admission process.
Several states including Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Gujarat, West Bengal and Tamil Nadu have completely canceled the exam, claiming drastic changes in the syllabus. Therefore, in 2012, the NEET exam was declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court of India. However, it was canceled on April 11, 2016.
NEET Eligibility Criteria:
NEET - Full format of National Eligibility and Entrance Test administered automatically and paper-based. There are some mandatory criteria that the candidates must follow to be eligible to appear for the NEET National Eligibility and Entrance Test. Let's figure out what these parameters are.
1. The candidate must be a citizen of India.
2. The age of the candidate should be at least 17 years.

4. Slight advantage is given to the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC category. For them the required pass marks in HSC examination should be 40% in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology.
5. As the decision on upper age limit is pending before the Supreme Court, all the candidates are now allowed to appear in the examination.
